Your just too hard on your little starlet. I haven't broke one yet. It'll probably happen the weekend.

My view on starlets is....good car, feminine name. But there are definately other options. Corsas, golfs, dare I say Alfas. But ou cant beat Starlets for reliability, cost, part availability and ease of work. If a big engine could be slotted into a micra with a strong box it could be interesting. At present, neither exist. So what else can be used? Colts? Fiats? Fiestas? Ka's?

What about Pug 205's, they're used in rallycross, so why not in our type of events?

Are the gearboxes strong enough? The 205GTi was a fantastic car

205 is a good one, getting very rare now though I would have thought, and not just because of rallycross.

Mark, as for the Alfas, there's very few I wouldn't have but if I was going to use one for retros or multi-venues then it would have to be a 75 3.0 V6, no question...

absolutely, and it comes with a limo as standard, or is that just the 2L version?

There's a few different engine variations, but both the 2 litres and the 3 litres had limos. The 2L might even be a better all-rounder for competition as it is that bit lighter in the front end compared to the 3L, you'd have to sacrifice the V6 soundtrack though!

PLEASE GET THERE AS EARLY AS YOU CAN

We need to get things going on time so that the autosolo doesnt run late.

There will be a shortened version of the autosolo for novices (does not take in gravel section). This is due to hassle from the club who are afraid of stone chips etc. So if your not afraid of gravel, dont enter as a novice in the autosolo.

There are still lots of 205's rallycrossing but they are being gradually replaced by the 106. I don't think the Peugeots would stand up to Rory's atomic test in the same way the Starlets do.

Looks like there will be a good turnout for this, this Autosolo sounds like great fun, am I right in thinking its more like a multivenue test, ie more suited to a retro car ?

Think you'll enjoy the tests Trish. They're lovely fast ones. Nothing to do with me though. All the credit has to go to Damien
